While most of the improvements are under the covers, we just released one of our most impactful site updates. We unfortunately had to take the site down for a few hours while doing this, sorry! Here's what changed.
iLike Web site improvements:
- The Inbox area shows you replies so you know what a message is about. (our top user request)
- Artist-search now does auto spell-checking. Try it and send us feedback
- We added new privacy level - so you can avoid being found in people search
- We overhauled site performance and scalability, so things should run faster and more robustly
- In-page music now plays on Linux. woohoo!
iLike Sidebar improvements:
- the Sidebar now shows you who is "listening now" or "online now" in the sidebar friends tab
- it now properly track plays on iPod, CD, or friends' libraries, (and even WAV files), on Mac or PC
- on Mac you no longer show 2-plays if youpause/restart a song
- lots and lots of small bugfixes and installation improvements for odd computer configs
Anyway, the next time we do a big update we will have some cool new features to announce, this one was mostly about fixing bugs and making things faster, which is not exciting to write about, but is very very important to us.
This week's quote of the week was by Maggie, while watching the Borat movie: "Oh my lord" (repeated over 100 times). Did you see the Borat movie? Ver niice. i Liiike !
Any plans for letting users edit (or more importantly create) band info? Not only for well-known bands but importantly the little-known bands. Like a wiki?
Awsome service though! Love the itunes sidebar, and the simplicity of the site.

Hi! Love the site. Any plans to provide a blog feature? I'd love to be able to jot down my thoughts about music, without making recommends.

yeah, it agree with Beth. Rating, voting and commenting is so 2.0.
If you finnaly do that, please let some of us hide the comments. There is soo much chat everywhere (wow I am being contradictory).

Your PLANTLIFE mp3s are not plantlife. It's like some weird country music or something.
The album was "Return of Jack Splash". But the mp3s that show up for it are like Johnny Cash or something.
